Dear all,

Today, I found myself wondering whether any non-americans won prestigious American Writing Fellowships, such as the Wallace Stegner Fellowship? The Nicholl Fellowship? Or maybe other famous literature prizes and/or screenwriting contests open to Americans and Non-americans alike? (Note: I am specifically talking about more internationally orientated contests).

I skimmed through the lists of winners of the Stegner Fellowship, but they all seemed to be American. Same with the Nicholl Fellowship. I know that Neil Gaiman (British) won the Nebula Award and I know that the Nobel Prize for literature is routinely given to writers from around the globe.

But do you have other examples for when non-American writers won prestigious awards/fellowships and how they might have achieved this? Or maybe do you know one example where non-Americans won the Stegner Fellowship/Nicholl Fellowship ….?

Many thanks for your answers,

EitherRegular
