I know its really hard to criticise this game as everyone loves it (I tried to discuss it on gaming related subs, needless to say people got really angry at me) but I feel like people praising the writing and the story this much have not played other games or witness truly good writing in films and books? Its not anywhere close to the complexity of writing of Metal Gear Solid, Bioshock Infinite, The Witcher 3 or Star Wars KOTOR.
The writing you see is a gang fall apart, Dutch acting like a manchild, going insane and repeating the same lines "just one more score" or "have faith, Arthur" over, and over, and over, and over, and over again. The game has the same kind of writing during missions, repeated over and over again like the writer got writers block. What happens is very predictable, and many missions in terms of writing just feel like filler to the story. Dutch and Arthur just feel kind of dumbly written?
Can someone enlighten me as to why this story is supposed to be such a masterpiece and perfectly written as many claim? "We need more money" / "Dutch has changed" "Just one more score, have faith Arthur" gets old and isn't that good writing. The Guarma part felt out of place and towards the end I just cringed at the writing. What am I missing, how is this a "masterpiece in writing" as the whole internet and journalists claim?
