I've been working on a story that takes place in a steam punk world. The premise of the story is that as science rise all things magical are dying. Magical creature, beings, and magic itself. The main character of the story is a female elf and and a human prince. The female elf is the last elf alive but was part of a story telling clan. Their sole purpose was to collect and store stories for generations to come. She encounters the human prince while traveling through his kingdom basically as a bard (telling stories and singing them) as she strives to collect more, and I don't mean books. She collects the stories of people's lives and writes them down or turns them into songs. Every now and then she'll return to her village to stash a new book of stories.
The prince character is the youngest of three brother's and is not likely to inherit the crown so he spends most of his time goofing off. He is a womanizer and know for causing all kinds of trouble. He is enamoured by the elf who takes great care in hiding her race. He ends up traveling with her.
I guess I'm trying to find out why he would go with her, and why she would let him? I could really use some ideas to help me iron out this problem.
