I’m watching a doc about Emily Davidson and her involvement with the suffragette movement. They’re talking about her death, and the main theory they’ve come up with is that she was trying to attach a scarf to the Kings horse so it would cross the finish line wearing the suffragette colours.

They said she may have misjudged how fast horses are when they run. But…is that realistic?? I’m not an expert by a long shot but I just think would someone really think it was likely that they would manage to do that successfully even if she didn’t get killed by it???

I think suicide is more likely, considering her jumping off the balcony in prison and having been mentally and physically tortured by force feeding. She wanted to make a statement, she was an unemployable woman due to her prison time so had nothing to lose in some ways… and the return ticket is irrelevant because the train lines on that particular day would only allow passengers to purchase return tickets.

So what do you guys think? I’m sorry if some of this is misinformed as I haven’t yet checked multiple sources but I thought this would be a good place to ask/discuss.

EDIT: I only went and spelled her name wrong in the title 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️
