I am a STEM guy. I am into entrepreneurship. Most of the books I read are about technologies, biographies and motivational books.
Now I am at a point in my life to make a decision whether I should take a literature class or not. I have a lot of respect for the literature community. However, I did not feel like it belongs to me.
I feel like for a guy like me literature is good to know/explore as a general knowledge but i am not sure it is ideal for me to invest a good amount of money and time for a guy like me. (not in general)
I googled some articles before making a post here. I saw some stuff like it will help me with creativity, empathy and stories etc but I was not 100% persuaded. So I think this community might give me some insights are their expert opinions for a specific case.
Of course you can say stuff like, if you are not interested it is not for you or somebody should not need to convince you to do something. I would really appreciate more constructive and elaborative answers because I have not invested much in literature before in my life and now I have to make a decision to invest in a class that covers a lot of Western literature books Homer, Iliad Sappho, If Not, Winter: Fragments of Sappho Homer, Odyssey, New Oxford Annotated Bible with Apocrypha Herodotus, The Histories Aeschylus, Oresteia Sophocles, Antigone Parks, Father Comes Home from the Wars , Plato, Symposium , Virgil, Aeneid.
My dream is to become a giant tech Magnate one day. Unfortunately, my time and money is very limited as I am struggling and juggling with a lot of responsibilities in my life. (Please do not get offended when I say my time is limited). I do not want to make a decision that Wagyu beef is worth it or not without trying it first ( even better if I have a chance to try a variety of beef). Nevertheless, I would like to know how eating wagyu beef is beneficial for specific type of person because I can barely afford Wagyu beef, I also need to consume other types of food more for my diet.
If I dumb my question further down to tldr level, would it very beneficial for me if I wanna be a person like Elon Musk, Steve Jobs or Bill Gates one day? If yes, why? If no, why? If it depends, please elaborate more.
I do hope my question does not offend anybody. I really need to know what you can say because I have to make the decision about the class very soon and the class is not cheap. I am also aware that to learn literature I do not necessarily have to take this class and I can just read books but for now I have to make a specific decision for this class and I would like to know what you can tell me. Thanks in advance.
